Inside Line Promotions – MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Nov. 15, 2017) – Anthony Miller wrapped up the 2017 season by charging to the South East Limited Late Model Series championship last Saturday at Myrtle Beach Speedway, where he competed in his first race since late April.

“We’ve had a lot of races postponed or cancelled due to the weather this season so we haven’t been behind the wheel as much as we would have liked to be,” he said. “But when we were we had some pretty good results.”

Practice for the Myrtle Beach 400 was slated for Thursday. However, inclement weather postponed it until Friday. Miller hit the track on Friday for two 45-minute practice sessions.

“In the first practice we were fast and pretty happy with the car,” he said. “We thought we had a good piece and left it alone for the remainder of that practice. We slowed down some in the second practice though. So we made a couple of adjustments to try and find that same speed we had in the first practice.”

Miller then qualified 11th quickest out of 26 cars following both practice sessions.

“That wasn’t really the qualifying effort that we had hoped for, but we knew we were able to work with it and move forward in the feature,” he said.

Miller started the time-restrained main event on the inside of the sixth row and he rallied to earn a third-place finish.

“There were several cautions throughout the duration of our race, but we were picking cars off one by one,” he said. “We made our way into the top 10, then into the top five until we had settled into third by the time of the last caution. The time limit was up by then so we settled with a podium finish.”

Miller’s championship came in his first full season with the series.
